The Manchester-based indie rock band Courteeners frequently attracted comparisons to the Smiths, Stone Roses, and Oasis, the top acts from the preceding three waves of Mancunian Brit-pop.
All three artists had an impact on the band's alternatively jangly and bombastic brand of indie guitar rock, which also draws comparisons to contemporary bands like Kasabian, Editors, and Kaiser Chiefs.
